Porcelain Clay Glazed

This sculpture explores the body as a site of transformation, vulnerability, and connection to the natural world. Through hand-built clay and layered glaze, the figure appears suspended between human form and organic growth, as root-like structures and floral forms slowly overtake the body. Influenced by themes of erosion, decay, seasonal change, and spiritual renewal, the work reflects on the fragile boundary between the self and nature.
The making process was deeply intuitive and meditative. Working directly with clay became a form of surrender, allowing the material to guide the evolution of the sculpture through touch, pressure, and repetition. The twisting vines and flowing forms emerged organically during the process, echoing natural systems of growth and entanglement. Glaze was used to create shifting surfaces that feel simultaneously alive and weathered, balancing beauty with unease.
The reclining pose suggests stillness, rest, or perhaps transformation, as though the figure is being reclaimed by the landscape itself. Rather than presenting nature as passive or decorative, the sculpture imagines it as an active and sentient force — capable of consuming, healing, and reshaping the human body over time.
