ABOUT EVELYN BAKER

Fine Artist
Based in Liverpool, United Kingdom
Evelyn Baker is an award winning sculptor and painter whose work explores the space where spirituality, nature, and the uncanny meet. Through organic forms and distorted representations of nature, they seek to evoke a sense of the uncanny- these moments where the familiar becomes unsettling and strange. Evelyn believes the natural world is imbued with unseen energies, a spiritual essence that transcends the material, and their practice is a dialogue with these forces.
They are currently undergoing The Breakthrough Artist Fellowship Award with Artist Futures Fund and an Artist in Residence at Bridewell Studios, where they continue to develop an interdisciplinary practice that moves fluidly between sculpture and painting. In 2025, Evelyn Baker was awarded Best in Show at Zari Art Prize, recognising the emotional depth and distinctive visual language of their work.
Drawing on philosophical and cultural ideas surrounding the eerie and the supernatural, Evelyn Baker creates immersive works that invite contemplation of hidden forces, spiritual presence, and the liminal spaces between life, death, and transformation. Their practice positions nature not as passive subject matter, but as an active, charged site of mystery and meaning.
